We have to differentiate here three kinds of hurtful communications.
1. The first kind is out of disrespect, disdain and having a superior complex. This kind is uncalled for in our business as downlines do not work for uplines and are not paid a salary. Uplines and downlines are business partners and for an upline to believe that the downlines are below him/her is stupidity. If your upline is in this category, here are some wise words from the Bible for him.
18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
2. The second kind is out of love, worry and anxiety. This is very much like how many parents talk to their children hoping they do well or improve themselves. Remember sometimes when people are angry with you it is a cry for help.
20 Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.
3. The third kind is out of jealousy, envy and a struggle for leadership as downlines begin to become big. There is a very complex problem where relationship is concerned between uplines and downlines in our business. When new distributors are just starting, they will accept and thank uplines for teaching or even scolding them. But when they are in the business for sometime or have a higher pin level they become very sensitive whenever the uplines say anything especially when they already decide to dislike the uplines. Even if the uplines say things that are right and should be said, they will think the uplines are scolding them. Please learn to love one another.
I do not know which category you go under but I am sure you know and your upline also knows. Anyway, here is another passage in the Bible for both of you as communication is a two-way traffic and there is always a possibility that you are the cause of bad communication.
