There are 3 parts to this question..
1. People ask this question because they are new in the business and they do not understand they saw a business opportunity and when they signed up to do the business, they are their own boss or an independent business owner. (IBO) They may think that are doing their friend or the company a favor for joining. Of course the way new distributors behave and what they say when they first start sponsoring when they bring new prospects to their upline to sponsor may give vague messages to the new prospects that we are begging them to join and do us a favor. It is okay as this is due to inexperience and I am sure all of us can reflex on how we ourselves behave when we talked to our first prospect. So do not be surprised if some expect the sponsor to buy these things from the company to be given to them or even want free samples.
2. Many people who join MLM are not business people. This is their first business venture and therefore do not think like business people yet. They do not know that we are not hiring them as salespeople on salary or commission. Ours is a partnership or distributorship and we receive bonuses based on business turn over.
3. The last is cost to a company or upline. In Taiwan, I have sponsored over 1 million distributorships and if I or company gives 1 flyer for free and let us say it only cost us USD 10 cents, the cost will be USD10 cents x 1,000,000 = USD100,000.
Just like to add a little more. Distributors who still feel this way after being in the business for several years are just a group of people who just want things from others all the time. You do not only find them in MLM. They are everywhere. Can you imagine this type of people and they hold high office in your country?
