I think I am qualified to voice my thoughts on this, as I was also a Managing Director for a MLM COMPANY. Over the years I too have many leaders who talked to me and after that blame me for not listening. They want me to do certain things or change certain things. Do you really think I or any General Manager or Country Manager or Managing Director of any company can listen to leaders and make decisions to change things? If we can, there will only be 2 reasons.
1. The company we are working for must be a funny one.
2. We own the company.
The Headquarters or Home Office runs all big company. The General Manager or Country Manager or Managing Director cannot and must not be allowed to do whatever they like in their country. Be fair to your G.M. It is not that he is not listening. He cannot do the things suggested by the leaders in your country working for the company. He does not own the company.
I hold regular meetings with my leaders and we also have top leaders who are selected to become President's Club members. During these events, one thing I will always avoid is to ask them for new ideas on company policies or marketing plan. We talk about good news, company plan/schedules on meetings/training/rallies etc. We may touch on promotions and products, everyday running of our operation etc that are within my control.
One thing I can guarantee is this. Leaders have this complaint because the business is not doing well or the business was doing well but now is facing challenges and the business has taken a dive.
